Hear directly from the individuals and families we have had the privilege to serve. Their stories of resilience, hope, and new beginnings are the heart of our mission.

I can finally talk to my children's teachers.
When we first arrived from Afghanistan, I felt so isolated. I couldn’t understand the mail, and I was scared to speak to anyone outside my home. The ESL class at Grace for Refugees changed everything. The teachers were so patient. It wasn’t just about grammar; it was about confidence. Now, I can go to the grocery store alone, I can understand the doctor, and most importantly, I can talk to my children’s teachers about their schoolwork. They didn’t just teach me English; they gave me my voice back.”

They gave us more than a house; they gave us a home
“Coming to a new country with nothing but our two suitcases was terrifying. We didn’t know where we would sleep or what we would eat. The team at Grace for Refugees met us with open arms. They provided us with a safe place to stay, warm meals, and clothes for our children. When we finally moved into our first apartment, they helped us with furniture, pots, and pans. It was those small things that made it feel like a real home. We will never forget their kindness. They were the first friends we made in America.”

I feel hopeful for the future for the first time in years
“In Syria, I was an engineer. Here, I felt I was nobody. It was very difficult. Grace for Refugees helped me with more than just supplies. They helped me with my dignity. The volunteers listened to my story and treated me with respect. Learning English and computer skills in the classes gave me a new purpose. It is a long journey, but because of their support and belief in me, I feel hopeful for the future for the first time in years. They don’t just help you survive; they help you live again.”

Because of them, I got my first job.
“Finding a job seemed impossible. My English was not strong, and I didn’t understand how to apply for work here. The ESL classes at Grace for Refugees were perfect because they helped me practice speaking for interviews. The volunteers also taught me how to write a resume and search for jobs online. Last month, I was hired at a local warehouse. This job is the first step for my new life, and I couldn’t have done it without the skills and support I received from this amazing organization.”
